About Cape RADD

Cape RADD is a marine conservation and research organization who’s mission is to build a community of passionate ocean scientists, conservationists and storytellers to explore, research, educate and ultimately protect our wild marine spaces. And we want you to join us.

Cape RADD is situated in Simon’s Town, on the South Peninsula, nestled on the shores of False Bay in an area of spectacular beauty that features stunning beaches, marine life, and a mountainous backdrop – just 40 km from Cape Town’s city centre. False Bay is a well-known hot spot for being one of the most diverse areas in the world for marine life and plays host to an abundance of species large and small, from colourful nudibranchs, octopus and sea urchins to humpback whales, dolphins, and the playful Cape Fur seals, as well as the magical Kelp Forests.

To support our mission, Cape RADD created a unique ecotourism experience to involve the public in exploring, learning and assisting scientists in our Citizen Science ‘Snorkel for Science’ trip. Through our snorkel experience, we highlight the beauty and importance of protecting our oceans as well as the threats to our marine environments, with particular focus on the endemic shy sharks of the kelp forests.
